week 1: visiting a friend

My first day at Banded started off feeling like a visit with an old friend. In another life, I assisted as a color analyst for years! To say I have a strong grasp on color matching would be an understatement. Ultimately once Maarika, the Creative Design Director for Banded, pulled out her color library and sample fabric swatches, I felt ready to get to work. I learned some problem solving regarding a current discontinuation of a specific color. We had to find an alternate options among the available sample colors sent by their vendor. We found two alternative color stories that felt similar to the original color direction. After solving this dilemma we moved into approving packaging design layout. This consists of reviewing current information on each style (i.e. color, fabric content, barcode, style code etc…) and double checking that information was displayed correctly on each packaging sent via email. Then it was photoshoot prep time. Maarika was able to walk me through a remote project I would be spearheading that would coincide with the upcoming S/S 22 product launch. We reviewed mood boards and trend direction for the shoot and discuss my upcoming duties. I have been tasked with the job of coming up with hairstyle options, outfit ideas, and extra mood boards for the models. I am currently working through finding ideas and uploading them into a new column on a shared excel file for team usage. I’m really looking forward to continuing this internship weekly!
